ARTS IN THE PARKS!

RUMBA!
Omar Hernandez and Miami's Cuban Rumberos!

Miami’s Cuban Rumberos and Omar Hernandez join eagerness and talents in an afro cuban performance, a concert that combines music and dance to remember where it all started. A performance led by established artists like Omar Hernandez, and many other Cubans Rumberos from Miami, will bring back the memories to those with keen intellects and those avid to remember, in this “tale-like” performance hosted by Viviam Lopez.

Omar Hernandez: GRAMMY-winning arranger, composer, producer, singer, bassist, multi-instrumentalist.

Omar has recorded/performed with names such as Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Oscar D’León, Arturo Sandoval, Rubén Blades, Paco D’Lucia, Enrique Iglesias, Carlos Oliva and many more. Omar has appeared in over 50 CDs and his compositions have been recorded by artists such as Tito Puente, Albita Rodriguez, Cano Estremera, Guaco, and in the movie soundtracks of “Dirty Dancing” & “The Perez Family.

In his native Cuba, Omar was one of the founding members of the famous band "Afrocuba" and later formed his own group "Cuarto Espacio". In previous years, he performed with groups such as Conjunto de Roberto Faz, Conjunto Rumbavana, etc. In Miami, Omar stays very active as a producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist.

Afro-Cuban syncretism has been a stamp in the Cuban culture throughout the years. Its influence in Cuban Arts in general is self-evident. Despite the fact that, after emancipation, hundreds of African ethnic groups were officially disbanded, their intense spirit, fervent practices and feisty traditions survived, and its impact spread beyond its original ethnic base to all forms of Cuban arts broadening its culture to new experimental horizons.

Cuba’s Rumba Roots
blends the ageless contribution of an older generation and the fresh strokes of contemporary art into a meeting point in which we all coincide, from which we all have catered.

Come and join us on a journey of passionate melodies and rhythms through over a century of history. Get on board and indulge your senses!
