Afro-Cuban syncretism has been a stamp in the Cuban culture throughout the years. Its influence in Cuban Arts in general is self-evident. Despite the fact that, after emancipation, hundreds of African ethnic groups were officially disbanded, their intense spirit, fervent practices and feisty traditions survived, and its impact spread beyond its original ethnic base to all forms of Cuban arts broadening its culture to new experimental horizons.
Cuba’s Rumba Roots blends the ageless contribution of an older generation and the fresh strokes of contemporary art into a meeting point in which we all coincide, from which we all have catered.
